This week I want you to focus on thanking the universe for everything that comes into your life this week.
Being in a state of gratitude gives our brains the rush of dopamine and serotonin, two essential ingredients for the “feel good” effect. Gratitude enhances our mood instantly and makes us feel happy from the inside out.
Oh man, is this a message that I needed last week and this week. I’ve been dipping back into depression the last week with only brief moments of my head bobbing above the surface for air and happiness. This time my depression was due to overwhelm. I have taken on a lot of responsibilities and over loaded myself. The problem was that I said yes to every task that came up and didn’t say no when I had taken on too much. As a result, I felt like I was losing myself.
By developing the practice of showing gratitude and thanking the universe for everything that comes into your life you get a chance to pause and take a step back. That pause for gratitude is going to give you better insight into how we are all interconnected. In my case, give me a chance to pause for gratitude AND to ask for help from those that are in my life. If I could have said thank you to the universe instead of lamenting and sometimes internalizing my overwhelm, I could have given myself the much needed dose of dopamine I so badly needed.
By replacing thanklessness with the expression gratitude to the universe for whatever comes into your life this week you are gaining multiple moments of the boost of dopamine you get when you express gratitude. Transform yourself this week and have the readiness to show gratitude and you will be surprised at how your mindset will shift. You will start to see the kindness in the abundance of opportunities that come into your life, that before you might have seen as overwhelming in a negative way.
Start by using the trigger of feeling overwhelmed as an indication that you need to say thank you for what has come your way. This isn’t always easy, but it is a start. Just remember to say thank you for your troubles and plights this week, express gratitude for them. It might feel sarcastic at first, but soon your mind will shift and begin to see these roadblocks as opportunities. We can and should be grateful for all opportunities that come our way.
In my personal experience I have found that saying thank you to the universe for everything that came my way good and bad, was really really hard when I was already starting from a really low saddened mental state. The difficult part was seeing the light in every opportunity because everything was overwhelming and felt like I was being buried alive by it all.

things to remember…
- You get what you give.
- When you say thank you and YOU will GET some of that feel good dopamine.
- Say thank you for your troubles and plights this week, express gratitude for them.
- Your mind will shift and begin to see these roadblocks as opportunities.

By developing the practice of saying thank you for everything that comes into my life, I have found that I feel almost instantly at peace. By stopping being thankless and practicing this, I feel connected with everyone and everything that has crossed my path and brought me the opportunities whether perceived good or bad. They always have a little bit of light in them, no matter how dark, to turn them into a positive experience.
